Introduction to Troop66

The Outdoor Program: Outdoor adventure is the promise made to boys when they join Scouting. Boys yearn for outdoor programs that stir their imagination and challenge them. In the outdoors, boys have opportunities to acquire skills that make them more self-reliant as they learn to deal with nature’s unexpected circumstances.

The highest of ideals: The tenants of the Scout Law are a good start for what the program is all about. Beyond the Scout Law, the oath, motto (Be Prepared) and slogan (Do a good turn daily) provide scouts a roadmap towards personal growth. Troop 66 expects all participants to know, follow, and live by these ideals of Scouting. That goes for adults, too.

Parental involvement: We whole-heartedly encourage parental involvement. In fact, we rely on it. We ask alot of our parents and adult volunteers and there are really only two requirements. First, you will be asked to set the example, and live the ideals of Scouting just as your son is. Second, you have to be willing to let the scouts lead. We know this to be the single greatest challenge for parents.

Fast facts: We like to think of ourselves as a medium-sized troop. With 25-40 scouts on our active roster, it is easy for new scouts to find friends. ... We generally camp once a month and scouts have two unique summer camps they can attend with Troop 66. ... Meetings are held weekly and are focused on learning the skills necessary for a safe but exciting outdoor program. ... Our scouts have several opportunities to participate in high adventure trips— from Florida to New Mexico and beyond.
